Hi guys

I hope this is the right section as it’s not mini related insurance.

I was wondering if anybody had any experience/knows anybody who owns a Carbodies London Cab for social/commuting use?

I was in the process of buying one which has been on my radar locally for a while.. and when I went to insure it I struggled. Of course I went straight to Adrian flux but the cheapest they could insure it for was £1700 for the year, take into consideration that I currently pay £390 that seems a little steep!

I know a few people have used them as general cars and if there’s anywhere that an oddity like this finds a home it’s here on TMF!

Any advice appreciated

Thanks,
Craig

It may work better to get in touch with an old school broker

as the larger company's just want easy money with little work

all the big names will probably be expensive and won't want the hassle

sadly you may find you are pulled by the police more often - depending on the area

my old boss used one to tow a car trailer & had tool boxes in the back , It was great for towing but the police kept pulling him as it didn't look right

but they are very reliable for the miles they do , & good on juice & very manoeuvrable - a great workhorse

Oh and I have a few friends over the years that have used Adrian Flux - Quick to take the premium - very slow to pay out when there are problems

IMHO avoid Adrian Flux

Best of luck

I'd have thought that you might be able to get a classic car policy on a 90s taxi?

I've had good dealings with a company called Carole Nash before with unusual vehicles:

https://www.carolenash.com/

It might pay to give them a call and discuss your needs

good luck!
