I have a 75 1275gt all standard set up. The duct that bolts onto the exhaust manifold and connects to the air box with the silver pipe is missing on the engine. Are their any benefits of re- installing it,

Only benefit is it will aid aid engine warm up in the colder months as the inlet air comes via the exhaust manifold. It will also keep the under bonnet appearance stock, if that is important to you.

The air filter valve/flap control below fitted to later Minis was designed to feed hot air from exhaust manifold when cold and colder air as the engine warmed up:-

As it's out every week all year I think I'll restore it to aid the cold starting. Thanks all.

It will help you run without choke slightly sooner and helps prevent carb icing.

All fitted and done and dusted pretty cold this morning and quickly able to close the choke.
