hi all, I am restoring a 1997 mpi, just had the body shell resprayed. My old seats and interior just don't compare well now, looking a bit shabby in comparison. Can they be recovered, if so is it a DIY job, and following on where to go for the stuff or to have it done. Many thanks

Yes they can as they are just covers ultimately. Are you looking to restore back to standard or are you looking to modify the seats too?

There are many companies that do it, Optimise Automotive are popular on here, Newton commercial are a more pricey option but very good quality and have unique reproduction materials

Yes, I've changed the seat foam on mine recently. Some of the plastic trim can be a pain to get off but the covers are just clipped on around the edges & use hog rings for the centres.  Pick up a cheap set of hog ring pliers and some rings off ebay and you'll be fine if you have some other basic tools.

I replaced the foam in the seat base and squabs using material sourced from a local upholstery store. It's fiddly to remove and replace the covers but definitely a DIY job with a few tools as humph suggests. The MPI seat covers don't seem to be as hard wearing as the SPI ones?
