I once had a Rover 75 1.8 Turbo.

It blew up big-time when the plastic inlet manifold failed and the cylinders filled with water. It did a lot of serious damage and cost quite a bit to sort out.

Then later the turbo started to play up and needing replacing and the power steering was 'lumpy'.

I traded it in quickly for a BMW E46 325i which I kept for almost 7 years and had virtually no problems with it except for it needing a new radiator at one point at a cost of £90.

The Rover was a nice car, but the reliability was very poor.

It's sad to see how few MG 'Z' cars remain on the roads. They hold little value and therefore beyond economic repair in many cases. Another 'what if' story had things gone differently for Rover.

My Grandson has just returned from 2 years living & working in Vancouver and has bought a Y-plate MG-ZT Estate with the 2.5, 190 bhp engine.

It was just so cheap for such a lot of car and it seems to drive very well, although I've not had a go at it yet.

It has a tow ball. so he can tow the trailer with his 1986 Mayfair on once he gets it finished.
