I am going to mod my head soon and was wondering which valves people use. Are there any brands to avoid. I know rimflo valves are excellent but I think they are out of my price range.

I thought i better add its a 1275 spi.

I was looking at the minispares valves 214 stainless nitrided valves with a single groove collet. Would they work well?

Save your money, the road spec valves will be just fine. Carry out the modification shown in this video and they'll flow almost as good as the race valves and save you a decent amount of money.

Stainless valves need to be run in bronze guides,
They will seize in cast iron guides

Do you have single groove collets and top caps, or triple?
All the SPI head’s would have used triple groove, so if you’re hoping to use those parts from the standard head then you’ll want triple groove valves.

Phil.
