Made a new bush out of phosphur bronze.

Added an 'O' ring seal to the bore of the bush to seal on the selector rod.

Hoping this additional seal will help.

Brilliant idea, the extra oil seal should help. You should sell these!

I'd say if you were to churn those out and sell them at £5-7 each theyd sell well.

Need to make sure the selector rod is clean and smooth where it passes through the bush or it would rip the inner seal to shreds and negate the benefit of it.

Thank you for the positive responses.

I've not fitted the bush yet so can't comment on it's performance but if there is sufficient interest I can arrange manufacture to order or in bulk.

I can/will optimise groove positions by modelling the bush in Solidworks.

Propose material would be phosphor bronze which is a better bearing material for the shaft than an ally bush.
