Hi all,

I have a 1990 Cooper on a HIF44 Carb and I have fuel running from the overflow.

The car hasn't been out this year just been turning it over occasionally but today I have fuel flowing out of the overflow.

I remember a previous owner's solution had been putting a bolt in the overflow pipe but wondered what I should do to fix it properly?

I'm guessing something wrong with the float and that is right at the bottom of the carb so whole unit off but could it be anything less drastic?

Cheers

The needle valve isn’t seating properly, it’s either worn, corroded or has some debris on the seat. Or if you’re using an electric pump /fuel pressure reg the fuel pressure is to high overcoming the needle valve.

Remove and clean.

May need a new float or needle.

CSK75 is the service kit you would need.

This kit includes all the relevant gaskets and service seals you will need..

It also includes the stepper seals for the choke which are prone to swelling and cracking. It is very unlikely that the float has a hole and is filling with petrol, and this would be apparent when you open up the carb and would see the float having fuel inside

All I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is if the float pivot wears against the float.
