Hi all,

As per the title, I recently bought a Brompton bicycle and am hoping to find out if, in its folded configuration, would fit inside a classic mini (saloon) boot. Mine’s a ‘92 British Open Classic.

Unfortuantely I do not have access to my car as I live in York and right now it’s garaged in my parent’s home, near London.

The Brompton bicycle is advertised as having dimensions of 22.2 inches tall, 23 inches wide and 10.6 inches deep in it’s folded configuration (565mm height, 585mm width, 270mm depth). See the link:

The volumetric size of the folded package is approximately 3.1ft

I couldn’t find any information online about the exact boot dimensions and unfortunately how the car is stored (full-garage) can’t reasonably ask the parents to measure the interior.

Could the knowledgeable weigh in, please?

I'll say no, but it'd be close.

mini_mk2_t.jpg Wasn't Alex Moulton supposed to have designed his bike to fit in his Mini?

Would probably go on the back seat, suitably covered (bike and/or back seat) ?

No. I have tried it. I always take my Brompton when I leave the mini to be serviced so I can get back home. I usually put it on the floor behind one of the front seats. It has to be done carefully to avoid damaging paint and upholstery.

I think it would depend if you have a boot board or not... I can check if mine fits in my mini, but as its just a shell that probably won't help!

My Brompton has the extended seat post so the saddle is a touch high when its folded. I can't fit it upright in the boot of my A4 estate with the load cover fitted, I have to lie it down instead.
