Which way round is correct for the boot seal (1990 car)?

The seal did my head in too! Here are some tips:

 

1) Always make sure the seal faces outwards, e.g not making the boot smaller

2) Cover the seal inside and out in silicon spray, put it in an air tight bag for 3-7 days before fitting. It makes it softer and easier to fit. My boot refused to close without doing this.

3) Leave the boot closed for a few days then clean off all silicon.

Had to close the boot with 2 persons and a lot of pressure after installing the new seal. Few weeks later i can close it on my own again

Yes, there are two types:
The early type (used until 1991: to be attached to the bootlit with those pesky clips) and the later type (used from 1981: to be placed on the boot panel lip.
