Hey guys and girls, newbie here from west wales. Bought myself a 1986 mini Chelsea rolling project (Neil) earlier in the year. I’ve been buying parts left, right and centre to hopefully make a start on it next year. It came with a 1098 that needs a full rebuild so I’m in the process of that I’ve the winter! I’ll be asking loads of questions as I’ve never built a mini engine, never mind one with parts that have been near impossible to find ??‍♂️
Cheers
Dave

Welcome aboard. You might be better off getting a second hand 998cc engine as parts are more widespread for those. Also the car would have had a 998cc engine originally

Ahh yes, I wish I’d have known about the spare parts before starting! I have 90% of the parts to put it back together so the plan is to keep going and if I decide to go down the 998 road once I’ve built it I can always sell it and get a 998....it’s been a good learning curve for a newbie though, I’ve learned a lot more than I possibly would have doing a 998 I think!
