I’ve been looking for a three terminal Durite starter solenoid but I’ve only been able to find P/N 0-335-02, which is four terminal. I’m not sure of the purpose of the fourth terminal, Product description says ‘cold start’-don’t know what that means. Should I cap it off? Is it a necessary earth connection? The solenoid is supposed to be a replacement for P/N 13H5952. Thanks

Provides a 12V output during cranking - used for ballast type ignition systems.

It will work fine in place of a 3 terminal solenoid, just don't connect anything to this 4th terminal.

Thanks for the reply.  Is there a reason that I shouldn't drill out the 4th terminal solder/tab and plug the hole or would that disable the solenoid?

Just leave it. Only live on cranking.

For what its worth, I found a Durite three terminal solenoid, p/n 0-335-00. Looks like all you have to do is remove the large spade connectors from one of the large post terminals and you’re in business.
