Can anyone confirm if this car came with a brake servo?

I know they had 7inch discs on the front but I can’t find a definitive answer on the servo question.

Thanks in advance!

The 997 was never fitted with a servo.  Early cars were fitted with a brake intensifier which does not use inlet manifold vacuum and was purely hydraulic.  It looks a bit like the bulkhead valve on a 1990s mini, but operates in a completely different manner.  The intensifier did not perform very well and was discontinued after a short period.

Many thanks! I thought so but someone who should know more about Minis than me insisted they did have a servo which sent me into searching.

Neither the 997 nor the 998 Cooper had a servo fitted as standard, although owners often added them later. The 997 disc brakes were not very good, but it was possible to file the callipers and fit the LD19 brake pads from the 998. With DS11 pad material the 998 brakes worked quite well, even in competition, although a change to 7.5" 'S' discs was a revalation.

I once bought a 1962 997 with the little brakes, but it had a 1275 'S' engine & gearbox. It went fine, but stopping it was another matter. I straight away fitted 'S' discs, hubs, callipers, servo and drive shafts together with 4.5" S wheels.
