went to start the car at about half 7 this morning, its not the fastest of turning over minis in the world, but this morning it was so slow, it started eventually but it was getting slower before it fired up

What is is that causes this?? battery?? alternator?? starter motor??

i kinda elimintated the starter motor as its a recon and only a couple of months old.
plugs and leads i renewed about 2 months ago, timing is running fine, had a rolling road set up in the summer, dizzy seems fine.

when ever i hear anyone elses car turn over it turns over very quickly, but mine doesnt want to no!

any ideas guys?

Mine does this too, but only when its parked outside and its really cold.

When shes been in the garage overnight then she's fine, I put it down to the engine just being cold......

could be the battery one as both connections on the battery could be tighter, any ideas where i can get a new earth strap from??

could it be the battery itself??

if thats the case whats the best battery u can get that will fit in the hole as mine looks tiny and can move about in there!

If in doubt, fit new ones. I would also suggest fitting an extra one too.

you can get earth straps from most motor factors. i know halfords sell them about 30cm long for about £6.

I just put a new batt in mine... £45 from hellfords!

I'd try and find a decent working 306 one if I were you. Although I do have a 3 year warranty :woot:

Try a good 85amp marine battery. It will pretty much never run out, it will start your engine nicely and you could listen to your stereo for about a week full stop without the engine running ;)

I would check out the battery first, have you got a ammeter?

It might be a tired starter motor .
