So, I buggered up and threw the radiator cowling into the tip with the old radiator....
Is there any other way of securing the rad without spending £80 on a new cowling?

I know it sounds like rubbing salt in the wounds, but a good reason never to throw anything in the bin until you finish the job. We hvae all done it, we have all been there sadly.
As above, a second hand one leaking for refurb, with the cowling on you shoudl pick up easy enough, but bear in mind, the cowlings do differ and have changed over the years of manufacture

Get onto John Middlemore on faceook. He seems to have most things and prices are fair.

Well you could try and make one. At which point you'd be glad they only cost £80!
Secondhand is the answer, they shouldn't be hard to find.
Presume it is the side mount rad and the 1 piece cowling?
