What would happen if it's classic car you modify back to standard spec?  I'm glad we don't have MOTs here, it's a minefield!

shouldn't be a problem; my understanding is that this is likely to be an issue is where engines have been swapped out for non A/A+ units and/or bodyshell alterations has been carried out (e.g flip/removable fronts)

link to the guidance on MOT exemption is below

https://www.gov.uk/g...mption-criteria

..and includes the following guidance on the types of changes that shouldn't affect exemption

Acceptable changes
It does not count as a ‘substantial change’ if:
  • changes are made to preserve a vehicle because the original type parts are no longer reasonably available
  • they are changes of a type which can be demonstrated to have been made when vehicles of the type were in production or within 10 years of the end of production
  • axles and running gear have been changed to improve efficiency, safety or environmental performance
  • changes were made to vehicles that were previously used as commercial vehicles, and you can prove the changes were made when the vehicle was used commercially

Express clickbait.Could easily be"drivers risk being jailed if they drive their cars at max speed in 30mph limits"or some such nonsense. If this is the news I always think that the world is relatively safe.Steve..

Another non-story. There's not enough news to keep them busy!
