I have gas cans sitting in my garage for an emergency (apocalypse, etc) and was going to get some fuel stabilizer to put in the cans, to make it last longer.

that got me thinking, my mini also sits all winter long with gas in the tank. should i be adding fuel stabilizer to the mini? its a '65 850 with original engine, etc.

Yes and fill the tank.

I never have. I use 'Super' in the last tank (if I remember) and run the car up to temperature half way through winter. I do the same with both cars and bikes, and generally don't have a problem.

    One Carb Or Two?

For a carb car, I'd be adding. Stabilizer if storing for more than a month or two. Most stabilizers help fuel contained ethanol from absorbing water from the air. Fuel left to sit in a carb float bowl can turn to jelly as most of the volatile components evaporate. Try to use ethanol free fuel if you can get it for last fill up and ideally leave tank full over storage to help prevent tank rusting inside.
