Hello all, I have had a good wade through this section but I now have to ask the question - how is a full width dash bottom-fixed in place? While I have the gear stick out for swapping I lay on the floor staring upwards at the shelf and I couldn`t find any likely methods of holding the dash in place. It seems quite solid along the bottom though the top clip pulled free easy enough. Any help appreciated as I don`t want to destroy the thing when my temper wears thin

It is probably secured to the bottom rail at each corner, a metal bracket secured to the dash and a single bolt from the bracket to bottom rail.

Thanks for your input. The ends are a bit flexible, one reason I wan`t to replace it but the middle 3 feet is solid. I`ll have a another look with a torch but not today as the weather is drizzly and cold with it. Thanks again.

Good news - with the aid of a small led torch, bought for the purpose, I managed to locate a wingnut. Having undone that and removed the bolt that end of the dash became free. I did the same at the other end, took the radio out and did likewise in the middle, it`s now free. It was right bodge and I am going to revert to a 3 dial binnacle and shelf. I have also found a right birds-nest of wires that I am sure I can dispense with, what a mess.
