Err it will not be as the actual wheel size is about the same.  Your Speedo may be reading incorrectly though.

There is usually a very small difference in the rolling diameter between 10's and 12's on a Mini.

Are you getting that speed indication off your speedo or a GPS ?

Can you also tell us a bit more about your Mini, what engine size, what's been done to it, final drive ratio (if you know it) etc?

Mine went from 12"s to 10"s and it made no difference to the top speed.

The comfort, handling and roadholding were, however, massively improved, as were the looks.

I used more fuel when i did this.

Probably because it made the car soooo much better and the back roads were calling all the time...

Even once took me 3 hours to get to the local shop for milk... ooops..

Mins are either faster off the line or faster on top end.. canna really have both...

Check the GPS speed..

If you do the maths, you will find that the rolling radius of a 165/60 × 12 is not much different from a 165/70 x 10.

I just did the maths and the difference is 0.33 ins on a rolling radius of 9.87" for a 12" and 9.54" for a 10". This is around 3% difference which is about the useable tread depth.
