Complete novice here

I have recently purchased my first Mini and it is also the first car I have ever done any work on myself. I have a lot to learn but the best way is by giving it a go yourself.

I have a late Cooper MPI with the stock two front fog lights fitted. However, they do not appear to be working... or at least I can't get them to work

1st Question - how are they meant to be activated as in what switch or stalk?

2nd Question - where are obvious wiring places to check? I have seen in one of the wheel arches behind the front indicator there is an unplugged section of loom which I thought might be linked?

Any advice is appreciated

If there are only two lights as in the Cooper Classic (the version with 12" wheels) then they are not fog lights. They are the driving lights, coming on with main beam. If there is a set of four as in the Cooper Sport then the extra pair are foglights.

Thank you. Where will the wiring run for the driving lights? So I can check why they aren't coming on. And do you mean the full beam or the headlights?

Full beam = high beam (spotlights should come on). Blue light on dashboard.

Your reference to "headlights" could mean anything, but I'm guessing you mean dipped beam, when the spotlights need to be off.

Are the normal headlights switching between high and low beam when you move the column stalk?.
