Hi chaps! Someone offered me a “identical” replica of what I believe is a XM.1 speedwell exhaust manifold. Any one knows anything about this particular manifold? I was after a 997/998 cooper maniflow but my question is could this “speedwell” be better?

So you have uploaded 3 pictures. 2 are not for a Mini or may be but with a pipe not mounted in the correct orientation.. The other is.

But you might not find a exhaust pipe that will work with it as most manifolds continue under the car before attaching to the exhaust system.

The lower part of the Speedwell Manifold appears to be a separate section that can be turned 90 degrees to fit in a Mini. We have a locally made manifold which is similar.

I think the difference in performance between the Speedwell item and the original Cooper item would be in academic numbers, but given the way the Speedwell item is made, I feel it would last longer.

Yes that’s correct Spider, is a separate section! So you recon that would be pretty similar performance between the maniflow cooper “replica” and this speedwell replica?

The difference in performance is likely to be measured in tenths-of-a-second per lap. On the road you'll not notice any difference. Very few drivers can tell the difference between 0 - 60 in 12 seconds or 13 seconds.

Both having a similar price, I would buy the Speedwell. It is a name that has been associated with the classic Mini for many years, and it is something that gives added value when it comes to selling the car.
Regards!

Maniflow, all day long as the Speedwell type is outdated but would probably do the job almost as well.

Maniflow will fix any issues you have
