Hi all,

I'm sure the question has been asked before, but here goes:

As it seems head gaskets for a 998 are rare as hen's teeth suddenly, which ones can actually be recommended? It will go on my tuned 998, where I'm aiming for about 10:1CR.

I have the Minispares engine gasket set which includes a head gasket, but it doesn't seem to be a copper one, has a greyish color.

Are there any head gaskets that can be recommended for my usage?

https://www.autodoc.be/ajusa/7244303 This one seems to be sold by some suppliers (at triple the cost, mind) as a composite, good quality gasket with extra reinforcement o-rings, is it any good?

You don't want a copper gasket on an A series. I've built a few A series engines (machining was done by professionals)

On 3 of the 10 engine rebuilds I was sent gasket kits with copper head gaskets, all 3 wouldn't seal and gave issues even after 2 full heat cycles on plain water (retorqued to recommendations on here (I forget the value) after each cycle just to try and stop the coolant weep.

Fitted each of these engines with a composite gasket and they've been perfect

The latest one I fitted was a composite one from minimail and it's excellent quality.

Viktor Reinz makes good composite head gaskets.
Must say however that I have never had any issues with copper ones before. Have used both the cheapest and expensive ones from minispares :)

Thanks guys, I'll give the composite one I found a try, as shipping from the UK has become unfeasible I think with Brexit and now the COVID-restrictions on border crossing... If that doesn't work I can go back and try the Minimine variant

I recently bought a Victor Reinz one from Keith Calver. He recommended it as that’s what he uses on his engine builds.

Thats what thousands of A series engines used From factory. Stop spreading misinformation.
