looking good there.

I know it is tilted forward, but is there enough room for the exhaust and radiator in the front? looks tight.

I actually did not take a picture of that as I had to hold the block back with a loose head on top of it, but there seems to be ample clearance. As you can see in this earlier picture, the headers are very close to the block, going under the starter motor rather than next/over it.

The radiator that came with it was quite bulky, I'm not convinced that was the original item or that it actually sat in a roundnose. Luckily there are tons of affordable aluminium options to get some decent cooling in there.

Sooooo I'm contemplating selling the engine. The usual of too many projects, too little time has come up, but I also do not have a Mini to put this engine in to. The Mini I've got was built for cruising, comfort and reliability, so I went with mostly standard engine/suspension components in case of a breakdown.

 

The engine here being a one-off and having a high performance potential does not match that idiology, and as I have more than one project already in waiting to build, I don't see myself getting another Mini to put this in. That would then simply make this an engineering project for the sake of it, but what fun is that if you can't drive around with it?

 

I reckon someone who's looking for a chunk more power and/or period correct engine conversion can put this to much better use, but then the question comes of.. how much is it even worth? I reckon the main jobs left are inspecting the bottom end, getting the crank balanced with the new flywheel/clutch, building it back up again and sorting out the fuel intake options. Any guesses?

I would seriously go to one of the performance Ford groups who will give you a better chance of a decent valuation.

The problem is it's not much use to the performance ford community as the block is modiified so no good to them, and the crank is a special too; so other than the head there's not much left for them.

 

I've seen people ask anything from a few hundred to over £3k for just a gearbox and then simillar for a full engine. Whether they actually sell I don't know. I paid closer to the lower values for both mine but that was quite a few years ago.

 

My only suggeation is you know what you paid for it so try and get your money back.
