Hello mini gurus :)

I have a 1997 mpi 1275 engine available in my local area and was wondering if it will go in my 1983 Mayfair.

Main questions are -

Will it fit in the engine bay and in to the subrame properly?

Will I be able to Plumb my existing carb on to it?

Is there anything else I should know before purchasing?

I did an auto to manual swap on my first mini many moons ago so am happy to do the swap myself if it's doable.

Many thnaks

Gavin

Yes it will fit. But there are a few issues you can have.

The MPI has no distributor. So you will have think about how you want to do that.

There’s a few standalone ecu options like megajolt.

i don’t think the Mpi had a mechanical fuel pump, so you’ll need to solve that issue.

The belt was different on the mpi and obviously the rad was front mounted. I don’t know how easy it is to mount a fan to the mpi set up
