Hi all anyone got some advice on getting a new single box RC40 system to seal I'm struggling at the Y piece and rear box clamps are tight as my mate at the bar !'ve even welded little bars across the clamps to stop them spreading

How far off is it? Exhaust gum is pretty good.

Did you use exhaust paste? If the joints are assembled dry they will leak.

If it’s blowing out of the slot on the link pipe it’s not on far enough.

This, you can weld the slot slightly but try sliding it on more

I've had a rubber mallet trying to work the tubes further in to the y piece and the rear silencer is butt up, better look for the paste a bit more thoroughly

Did you rub down the y piece / link pipe before fitting to make sure it’s smooth with no rough bumps, old paste / corrosion. Usually helps, along with some decent firegum.

Where possible I always try to assemble the exhausts parts off the car and make sure they all slide in together easily and far up inside as far as it shoudl go.... saves a lot of faffing lying under the car struggling later, but I appreciate that its not always possible to assemble off the car, but as said above make sure the pipes are clean rust free etc no burrs,, I have also opened out split pipe a bit knowing the clamps can be used to pull the metal back down tight together once things are all slid up

To fully seat the joints, using WD40 on the sliding parts, clamp them down using stainless steel exhaust clamps from 7enterprises.  Works for me. Clamp Set, Stainless, LCB Standard Bore (SIE041

Those should work, I'm happy with the ones that I used.  Got tired of fighting the others and once on, not sure they were all that effective without the use of exhaust paste.
