Is the coil Ballast or non.
What voltage have you got at coil?

Is this points or converted to electronic ignition?

Electric, i think is a non ballast, its a bosch blue coil that has been working great for the last year or so. 12v at + & -

Electronic distributors will only give an output if turning at at least cranking speed, they cannot be set up like a points distributor and hope to get a spark i.e. when the points open a spark is generated.
Set the engine at the desired TDC figure and adjust the distributor so that the "peak" on the rotor shaft is in line with the hall effect sensor.
this will set the static timing. Usually the distributor wires, red and black, are connected across the coil. Now check there is 12v at the coil positive terminal both with the ignition ON and when cranking the engine.
Fit the rotor arm, distributor cap and plug leads and crank the engine to check for a spark. If the integrity of the arm, cap and leads are good and the 12v is there but still no spark then look for a fault in the distributor itself.
When started use a strobe timing light to fine tune the timing.
This is only for a negative earth system.
