Hello all and merry Christmas. I need to remove the speedo cable at the head end from my 3 clock cluster. It has a plastic clip of some kind and I have done everything I can with said clip short of cutting it off. The Haynes manual just says to remove it with no clue as to how. Can any of you tell me the knack to getting it off please?

                       Many thanks, Hazel

It should be a matter of pushing the cable in (towards the speedo), then pressing on the plastic tongue and then pull it out.
They do break sometimes...

Thanks Mac, I`ll try that. It`s the prospect of breaking it that worries me because I don`t want to have to bodge it up refitting it. Fingers crossed....

Just push down on the 'clip' more and more while pushing it in an out of the speedo until it comes off...
Gently does it as they say. 😁

Ha ha, I tried gentle persuasion but the plastic clip had no "give" to it. No give that is til it went ping and the cable flew out. Yes, I broke it, I`ll have to bodge it now, bugger!

Sorry to hear that, tricky buggers they are indeed. Broke plenty myself. 😔

Sounds like the cable needs replacing, a hard task in the available space, removal of the drive shaft and possibly the radiator may be required
