I’ve had my clutch slave cylinder immersed in Deox-C for a few days and it now looks like a new casting, I wasn’t aware there was any paint or coating on it before treatment, just a layer of rust and grime. Will this now need painting or is there an easier coating I can use to prevent rust returning?

Clear lacquer, cold blueing? paint colour of your choice.

Thanks for the replies. It's current had a good dose of WD40 to hold back any short term rust so I'll clean it down and spray it. I quite like the idea of some basic clear lacquer.

Hi Bobbins, I'm not sure on the products available, But I'd potentially recommend something that would be brake/clutch fluid replant, as I'm sure its bound to get bled or a leak causing it to strip the paint or clear coat off at some point in its life :)
