For example the use of Yokohama A048's on the road was impacted by changes to tyre noise regulations, what does this mean now?

What else has changed??

Green card for insurance is another subject all together as well!!  Particularly affects me in Northern Ireland, we have our wee mini over the border pretty regularly on runs.

One major change of vital importance:  you can't legally fit new number plates with the EU flag!  Existing ones fitted to vehicles can still be used.

Has anyone actually put a plate with an EU flag onto their great BRITISH Mini? Surely not!

Perhaps on an Innocenti or Authi.

If you need to buy parts from the rest of the world you might find they will not ship them.

Only if the parts come from inside the EU. It won't be a problem once the required paperwork is fully understood.

Shipping to and from the rest of the world is no different. I am about to send some specialised tools to the USA and there is no change. I just complete a customs declaration and schedule of goods. Courier collects and duty is paid, if appropriate, on delivery in the USA.

Now that one takes on a completely different dimension if you live in Northern Ireland  :teehee:

I've just moved this thread to Chat as it's not a Technical Issue and has more relevance here.

I see your situation the same now as it always has been for us, though, under the last minute deal, there maybe some exemptions.

As an example, I can bring my Moke to the UK and drive it for up to 3 months on my Aussie Rego and Plates without inspection or need to comply to the UK's rules. After 3 months though, I would need to apply for UK Registration (which seems quite complicated with log books, V5's and other stuff I have no idea of).

Likewise, the arrangement is reciprocal in that you guys could bring your Minis here and drive them on our roads for 3 months on your UK registration.

You would need to let your Insurer know, as they normally only cover you in your home country. Some will give overseas coverage and some won't.

I would also be fairly sure that was what previously permitted and used pre-Brexit, will be legal now, though some items may need a change of type or specification once replacements are needed.

If you brought a car in from outside the EU before Brexit you could use Customs Form 308 and the car could remain for 3 months. After that the car needed to have any import duty paid, an MoT test, registration, UK insurance and road tax.
That now applies to cars from the EU except that import duty is not applicable.
That is how I read it.

Driving in Europe after Brexit: what are the new rules?

Brexit will impact UK motorists driving in EU countries in a number of ways; our guide sets out the changes:-

For those who may have followed it, it would appear that the 'Vnuk Judgement' will no longer need to be applied.

This is the EU legislation which requies every, that is every, self-propelled vehicle to carry an insurance policy even when used only on private roads.

For those involved in motor-sport, or any other activity which required the use of special off-road vehicles this is a relief. It could have impacted golf clubs whost electric/petrol golf buggies would have needed a specific policy for each vehicle, rally cars on special stages, etc.  My other sport is gliding and our airfield-only vehicles would have needed their own insurance as our public-liability policy was not considered sufficient under the Vnuk legislation.

Wasn't that all sparked by a particular case?

I forget the details & it may well not be a good idea to rake them up!

The  flip side is electric scooters, we're much more bureaucratic than Europe with 'em  - good or bad.
