Remote Gearchange, Obsolete Pad, What's It For?

Best Answer Spider , 03 January 2021 - 07:53 PM

The Early Remotes used them, the later ones, from about 65-ish on, used the 1/2 moon types

Hello all,

Need to pick someone's brains regarding the remote gearchange housing.  There['s a pad (numbered 66 in the diagram) that is no longer available.  I've taken my remote housing off and there's no pad there, just the semi-circle plug (numbered 65).  I've sourced a pad but am unsure where it goes.  Any ideas?

I've never seen that pad, but my remote diff housing has a rectangular slot where it butts up to the remote that looks like it shouldpossiblyhave a bung in it. I've had the car since 84 and it's never had anything in there during my ownership.
