Yes it can with the standard elbow. I used my old HS4 airbox on my Hif44 to keep the car looking standard

Nice one, I still have the air box and elbow that came on the car, think I might go for the original look. With a K&N filter it is meant to be quieter than the K&N cone filter? Thanks
I have the standard air filter box with a K&N filter element fitted with the casing modified as per Keith Calver spec, which is 6 additional 20mm holes in the base of the casing to improve the standard casings restrictive air flow.
This still maintains the original appearance.

I read what he wrote years ago in mini magazine about doing the extra holes, I'll have to dig them out, it'll be in the loft somewhere
Did you notice any reduction in noise/power gain? Not that it makes any difference when Jimmy's had a gutbuster breakfast on a morning run haha

Can't say I noticed any power gain on my original 1275, but the new 1293 engine was set up by Bill Richards and runs like a dream.
Regarding the Keith Calver mod, just google it.

I've just been on the Calver ST site, looks quite straight forward.
I also looked what he said about inlet manifolds, although my Howley inlet looks cool, it doesn't flow as well as a minispares one. God, I must be desperate for the extra 4 horses to get it over 80 lol
