I have recently replaced my anti roll links on the car, I have just had a look around just to check everything is okay and the rubber has perished, I replaced these less than 6 months ago, any reason why the rubber has perished so quickly?

You'll have seen, and checked as understood, during the registration that this is a forum for classic minis only.

This is a forum for Minis not MINIs you would do better asking on a forum for MINIs.

Hi Kie, you probably wont find the R50 expertise you need on this site, but like any other car, dd you buy "cheap" inferior copies of parts ?

While this is on an R50, the problem is wide spread. Many classic cars, including Minis, suffer from very poor after-market rubber parts. Buy OEM if you can.

Ideally you would replace with genuine parts however price would warrant using cheaper parts. I generally try to use Delphi components.
As a classic mini community we find that the quality of the rubber on replacement parts has been sub standard for a long period.

My apologies everyone I didn't realise this was a classic page. Please accept my apologies
40 lashings and a fortnight of dry bread and water for you
Please,,,, no need to apologise here. We do have a system for 'catching' MINI owners, but somehow you've slipped through the small cracks.
All the same, there are some helpful MINI owners here who maybe able to offer some guidance, as you've posted your question, I've moved here.
If you get no joy here, maybe try Mini 2 or Total Mini Forums.

No worries. I did the same job on my R55 a couple of months back - since you've posted this I'll be keeping an eye on them as I didn't follow my own advice and used after-market. I still have the originals sitting in a scrap pile, I might put them to one side just in case!
