My 1275 engine has a LCB without a "loose" Y-piece, that is the manifold is welded together. If it is home made or just unknown for me I do not know. Is it possible to remove it without first remove the engine? Should I just start up the angle grinder?

If it really is an LCB and has had the Y piece welded on you will not get it out without removing the engine or grinding the welds off.

Are you sure it's not a Freeflow manifold? They are 3 into 1 and continue under the car. If it is then you do not need to remove the engine, just remove the engine steady bars and rock the engine forward and jiggle.

If I look down in the engine bay I se 2 pipes "disappear" under the floor so I do not think it is a Freeflow manifold.

It will need cut and a new manifold and Y piece fitted. Personally I'd just fit a Cooper free flow manifold as there is less joints in the system.

you might be able to undo the exhaust and drop it down from underneath if you remove the staboliser bars and pull the engine forwards

Beat me too it, was going to say if you can get the car high enough you might have success dropping it out the bottom

Thank you for your inputs. I will have to look more closely and see if the manifold maybe will survive another season. I am a bit lazy. On the other hand, now during the winter would be a good time to do the change.
