Ok, I have a mini 16v vvc conversion, I use a slightly modified Rover metro subframe. I am in the process of putting in a yellow tag brake master cylinder as the servo setup wasn't for me. Whilst everything is out of the car as I am changing over my gearbox and doing some needed work on the clutch and brakes I have decided to renew my brakes and lines. The problem I have is that where my front brake lines attach to the subframe I can't get it of/ not too sure how it is attached? The actual copper brake line fits into the flexible brake line that goes into the brake caliper itself, it is a 3/8 male brake union, which is obviously easy to unscrew however, that still leaves the flexi hose attached to the car by what seems to be a triangular wedge of metal with an 8mm nut and bolt holding it to a bracket welded to the car. It is approx an inch square, with a slot in it which seems to fit between the brake union and the flexi hose union........how does this separate/come off as it obviously has a little bit of rust/paint on it? Sorry to make this more complicated than it is but can't find any reference to this bracket/clip in any of my MG/Metro/Mini manuals............

Am so crap at trying to put pictures on here. what I mean is how is the flexi hose pipe, the one to the actual brake caliper, secured to the subframe of the car, mine is actually by a weird bracket just at the meeting of the flexi hose and copper brake pipe.

Ok, but just sorted it out........must be a Rover / Metro thing but the flexi hose terminates at the end just before the union to an odd D shaped fitting, this in turn locates on a same shaped hole it the bracket on the car frame. Once located this is wedged in by that 1 inch square wedge and that in turn is held in place by a small screw...complicated but sorted I will post some pics on here when i sort out imgur in the next couple of days if your interested.

Its a popular way of holding brake flexis. All my Americans use a similar setup.
When reinstalling I grease these liberally.
