Hi 

 

Cant seem to find much info on this area. I took a look at gasket outline on my head and will be opening the port to gasket dimension exhaust only. When i put the gasket against the exhaust manifold its also a terrible alignment to the ports. Has anyone modified this area to be smoother / better flowing? The biggest question is has anyone looked at the exit end of this manifold and the alignment to T3 inlet? This also looks poorly matched and has a mass restriction due to the cast form. Anyone tried to remove the centre area for better flow?  

 

The picture shows the sections in the centre that I am considering grinding out. May affect strength / distortion but who knows until its tried. Surely the flow would be improved?

Have a look on turbo minis forum I'm sure people IIRC have opened them up a bit and you can port the down pipe elbow as well.

Thanks, Have taken a look on TM and cant seem to find anything. I will try again. Just seems logical for good flow. But logic and Turbos don't always seem to mix well.

Opening the entrance to the runners to reduce the mismatch from head to manifold is a good move. Don’t remove the dividers at the turbine end though. You want the exhaust pulses to remain separated, you can give it a good tidy up though.

Thanks Phil. I have been researching this for a few days now and what you say is 100% correct. Removing or reducing the centre sections will cause more turbulence. This will not help the turbo.. Light polish and clean to get alignment better.
