HI All

I am after a new or used crankshaft for my 1985 a plus 998 engine due to the previous owner being incompetent and not tightening up the bolt in the crankshaft. unfortunately trade in isn't an option due to the amount of damage caused. after a brief search it seems they arent easy to get hold of. does anyone have any ideas on what could be done or where to get one from.

Many thanks

George

I don't think you'll find a new one, but you should have no trouble finding a good used one.

I cannot recall the name but you can have metal added to it and then reground.

Its not just welding though, its kind of blown on.

I did mean to say in my previous, I know that looks nasty, but I can see it's not nearly as bad as it may appear.

I'd clean it and give it a quick lapping to another flywheel, then make the call. For a stock 998, as long as you can get a minimum 50% contact and on each end of the Taper, it'll be fine.

It does not look like it has picked up much. More like lost some. As above. A clear photo of the flywheel would be good. As they may go again. Or maybe a new pressure plate.
