Just wondering if someone could have a listen to the video below, I’ve fitted a set of new RHP diff bearings to a new x pin diff unit but they don’t sound right at all. Should there be any sound at all when you spin the bearing by hand ? I’ve got one that makes a noise and doesn’t rattle and another one that rattles if you shake side to side but smooth when spun.

Pretty difficult to judge without fingering it - could be that one has some grease in and the other being dry?

wash them both with brake cleaner and blow-out gun and spin them again, if my above guess is true they will both sound the same.

by the way: Did you press/knock them on via outer or inner race?

Your clips came out a bit quiet on my end, but what I was able to hear, sounded OK. They just sound dry.

These Bearing do have some free play / shake in them, that's normal and that's also why we pre-load them when fitting up in the Gearbox, to take all that play out of them.

Thanks for the reply, I knocked them in with a socket on the inner race, I’ll give them a clean out and check again.

I’ve cleaned them out and re oiled them as suggested, not sure if I’m being paranoid but I’ve attached the below video which shows one of the bearing noises and not sure if this is just vibrating through the diff unit itself as it feels like it ?

How would I know if it’s faulty ?

Once they are properly cleaned with brake cleaner or paraffine, check the races and balls for any signs of spalling

Remember that unlubricated bearings always make akward noises - and just as a warning: never spin them using your blow-gun ;)
