Hi All,

New member to the forum here, based in Stafford (and I've only ever been up to Bingley Hall once).

I bought a 1968 Morris Mini Traveller (Woodie) just over 13 years ago, and have done practically nothing with it (for a multitude of reasons)  Shameful, I know... But I have kept it in dry stored in my garage, so hopefully that redeems me a bit!  The owner previous to me had it for 6 years and never moved it, so it's hasn't rn for nigh on 20 years!  Anyhow, I've decided to get my a*se in gear and crack on with it!

I'm currently in the process of a massive declutter of my garage to make room for me to get started by February.  We're looking to move house in the next 12-18 months, so my target is to get try and have a rolling shell by then.

It's going to be quite a challenge as I've only got a single garage to work in and I intend to do as much as I can myself, including making my own jig to practice welding!

I want to restore to as original as possible, but one thing I'm unsure on, and will be looking for good advice on here is the engine & gearbox as it has a 3 speed auto, so I'm not sure if it would be better to go manual, but obviously that decision isn't needed just yet.

I'm thinking of doing a YouTube series for it too so I can can people up to date on progress.

Looking forward to having some great discussion and I know I'll get some cracking advice on here.

Sounds sort of similar to my situation although my mini hasn't been dry stored  O_O

I don't have a garage but I do have a massive shed in my back garden which will accommodate the mini really easily with plenty of room to work, the only problem is, I live in a mid-terraced house but I do have really nice neighbours who have given me permission to carry the shell through their gardens!  Interesting challenge...

Look forward to seeing your project progress and good luck!

Welome to the forum!

You're not the omly person to buy and store for future :)

I bought mine in 2007 as a project, started it in 2017, and now due to current situation having a rest since almost july 2020. One day I will drive it.

Good luck for your project.

Do you have pictures of it?

Youtube's not a bad idea if it helps motivation, but there's a danger that becomes as big a time consuming project as actually working on the car. You could start a project on TMF - scribbling a few words & takin photos would be less effort. The photos can be useful references for reassembly and you'd have an audience with specialist knowledge if you need advice.  :-)

I've since remove the 2 front wings - pulled them of by hand!!  Shows how bad of a bodge job had been done preivously

It had very little with it - one seat a few windows and that was about it really!
