Like others I am giving a Mk 1 Cooper / S appearance to a later car and don't really want to retain the standard 90 mph speedo...there's something about the 100 or 120 speedos that will complete the look of the interior.
Has anyone experience of these outer face inserts which are available on eBay? The supplier can also make up 100 / 105 mph speedo faces which I actually prefer the look of over the 120 mph dials which, let's be honest, around 30% will never be used! The speed markings of the 100 mph version (which I believe was fitted to 997 Coppers) has a potential advantage insofar as the speed markings appear to match up almost precisely to the 90mph speedo. Handy as I already have 2 spare 90 mph speedos and should avoid costly recalibration or buying an original which would cost well over £250. I thought the quality looked good too. Has anyone used these faces: are they easy to fit, do they have a neat and convincing appearance? There is one being offered on Ebay right now and I understand that they can be bought for £80...maybe pricey but for the reasons above, still much cheaper than the alternatives.
Are there any alternatives? Looking at much older posts there may have been someone selling stickers - are these available now? I haven't come across them on the web.
Cheers
