I'm trying to replace my coil but am unsure if I have a ballast or not. The coil had no part number visible but has 12v stamped into the plastic

any help would be much appreciated

Before you buy the 143 coil, you might have a read of a post on this forum entitled ‘What coil for electronic distributors (65dm4)’. Lots of good information.

Test the coil before fitting. A lot of coils around with a resistance that doesn’t meet the advertised standard.

Ahh right so that 65d is a electronic unit ?

sorry I haven't taken the cap off yet as I have been chasing fuelling issues, now discovered no spark at the plugs and nothing through the HT leads so i think its best to refresh that system since its been sat for a year.
