I’m doing a full refresh on an 1986 998 A+ engine and this bolt has me stumped! I thought I’d labelled everything but then it was left over after cleaning parts through my ultrasonic bath at the time I had the carb stripped ... which is now back together! I’d kept assuming it was the clutch slave cylinder mounting bolt but that’s a fully threaded bolt that I’d labelled separately, plus the shoulder on this is too long to fit with the sleeve.

It’s 1/4” UNF x 2”, obviously very specific due to the substantial shoulder.

Can anyone take a guess?

Stu.

It’s about half the size of the bottom rad bolt!

I did wonder whether it was the mounting bolt for the brake valve but there seemed way too much clearance through the casting, the spec is correct though!

Brilliant :)

If it is 1 inch & 3/4 long then it is a BH604141, that,s the size I think, then if so,  look at

I'm not so sure guys, it is a little odd as it has a long shank and a short threaded section. I could well be wrong, but to me it does look like a special for something specific.
