Would this be the correct reamer for teaming bushes on the rear radius arms?

H15 Expanding Adjustable Reamer 1.1/2" - 1.13/16" 38.10mm To 46.03mm

Thanks in advance

It's just 13/16" not  1 - 13/16"

it needs to be reamed concentrically to the bearing diameter, the original ones had a bush to go where the bearing fits and the reamer is a longer rod that is supported by the bush.

As Alex said, needs to be 'guided' so it lines up with the Bearing. If you look about you might find a Reamer Pilot that's long enough.

Thanks for the quick responses. Back to trying to find the correct size reamer. Would you suggest a tapered reamer or not?

They look pretty neat. What would this cost?

This is a kit deigned for trade use ie, it’s not a hobby tool, this is designed to work all day.
it features hardened steel arbour, changeable cutters when it eventually wears out, a brass bush to align the tool with the other end of the radius arm, and a drill mounted bore polisher to take care of oversized shafts that are sometimes found in the aftermarket rebuild kits, or to apply a clearance if you like to run a bit of extra grease clearance.

£195 plus shipping.

Sure is, I guess depends what it cost to get replacement arms or your own reconned, must admit I have never replaced rear arms / bearings / bushes other than the ones I bent...if "new" and greased properly and regularly they pretty much dont wear out I believe

The point is you don’t buy this tool if you just want to rebuild a few pairs of arms, if you want to do many this is the kit you need. I decided to make one as the original tools are mostly worn out now and are of the throw away type. Mine, you simply replace the reamer at the end when it wears out for minimal cost. Tool for life basically.

Read somewhere someone made a tool out of an old pin by grinding some slots axially along the surface that fits in the bushing.
Just about to do this job myself and was thinking I'd give it a try to see how well it works

Hand Reamers are Tapered, Machine Reamers are Parallel.

The Taper on the Hand Reamers is only on the first 1/3 of it's length, then they are parallel.

Got mine here.

Can't remember if it was that exact one, I rang 'em & told 'em how long it needed to be. You'd either have a bush made up for the bearing end (like AC's), or figure out a way to extend the nose - maybe by making it screw on to the turned down end of an old pin.

Sure there's an old topic somewhere.
