Hi

Can anyone confirm this is the correct Garret T2 from an R5 turbo?

To be honest I know nothing more than the pictures. Spotted it on ebay advertised for R5 turbo and made an offer. £40 seemed cheap.. I asked about the exhaust housing but its whats in the pictures. Will this direct fit to the standard metro manifold?

Not quite but can be made to fit pretty easy I would imagine. T2 flange is smaller

Had a quick search and it looks like adapter flanges are available. Just need to find the exhaust end plate or make a suitable new one. Looks like i now have options on T2 or T3 for the 998.

T2 would be way better suited for a 998

I know, this engine was just an assembly of parts I already had, but I cant ignore how many people have advised against the T3. Now I have the option of either. I do have some confusion over why the T3 is so poor with an AR on the turbine of only 0.25 and compressor only 0.42

I also have an idea to possibly improve this, but I should probably start a new topic for that, and accept after I am shamed forever for being a fool :)

Ive managed to find the exhaust outlet for the T2 and down pipe off a R5 turbo. Hopefully its the correct one, already have a Maniflow down pipe but thinking ahead the 998 is a shorter engine and the T2 is a different exhaust connection, so I should now be able to make my own down pipe to suit

£35 exhaust elbow and down pipe - £40 T2 turbo  - Repair kit for the Turbo will be £26 and ceramic paint £22

Will need to order some new bolts and make some gaskets + make a conversion plate between the Metro Turbo manifold and the T2 + Actuator bracket but im pretty happy the T2 conversion will be less than £150 all done.

I just hope its the correct T2 and exhaust connection...

Might be able to just slot the holes on the turbo and make a gasket may not need and adapter plate

Hopefully I can make a simple adapter plate, seen some on the net but will look at it all on the bench and work it out, already got some thick mild steel plate i can make it from.
