Hi to all out there.

I am new to the site, so finding my way around. I purchased my Mini in late 2019 & have worked on it for the past year, it has been a very good project  for lock down.

The car is replica Mini Cooper, Tahiti Blue but with an 1,100 hundred engine(mini city).

I will try & up load some photos. I live in the Berkshire area(RG) Binfield to be exact. I am looking for someone in the Berkshire area who has good knowledge of the wiring of my car, 2 New looms fitted.  I have some minor issues to finish which I do not understand, even with a Haynes manual.

I have fitted a new Distributer with electronic ignition, need the electrics finishing. There are 2 cables fitted to the coil that do not match up(colour wise with my manual. I have fitted  the dash clocks, just need wiring to the relevant places. I also have spare wires coming from the loom that I haven't got a clue where they go! It might be that the new looms are generic looms for different models of mini`s.  Once electrics are sorted I need to put in all oils & coolants etc & fire her up. I've had the head off, new pistons are fitted, all looks very good.

I would like to finish the mini & put it on the road for spring. The car is in my garage attached to the house, with heating. I will pay for your time & keep you in coffee, sausage & bacon rolls.

Could someone please help or advise where to go, please leave your contact details  or contact me on 07931532216/[email protected]

Cheers to all.......ColinAttached File  603.jpg   98.78K   6 downloadsAttached File  144.jpg   58.39K   4 downloads

Nice car, this may seem obvious, but if no one can help, I would I find a mobile auto electrician. Sounds like you have the wiring diagram, there’s also a good resource on the forum of newly re-drawn wiring diagrams that are a bit clearer than Haynes.

Good afternoon, thanks for your reply. It did cross my mind about tracking down an auto electrician, but i feel i need one who is old school & has worked on classic mini`s.

I will see if i get any more leads & take it from there.

Cheers......

I might be wrong, but minis are relatively simple compared to modern stuff, so I would have thought any auto electrician worth his salt would be able to work on it, just ask them.

As to the two wires to the coil...that is likely the pink/white line for resistive 8volts ballast and the white/yellow line that gives 12v during starter solenoid powerup to help at startup. If your new EI uses a 12v coil, then you must disconnect the pink/white and run a line straight from the ign on 12v powered fuse to the coli +ve terminal. Apparently that pink/white line is itself the required resistance to step down volts 12 to 8....and some have had them overheat/melt harness etc when hooked up with 12v coils. No need for the white/yellow either. This is the standard change when running 12v coils & EI.

There are quite a few different unused lines in the wiring harness, used for differently equipped cars and model years. For example some didn't get tacho and don't have the white/black line connected -ve coil to dash clock, yet line is present in harness. Others don't have brake fluid level sensor fitted to a switched warning light on the dash. Some don't have rear heated defrosters.
