Quick Q if ok.

Having not used the mini for a while - the last 2 times I have run it out (10-15 miles - so warmed up) when it idles it’s up to 1000RPM... before I put the car away for the winter it idled at 800ish when warm.....

I will check the carb and adjust but just wondering if anything else needs checking/sorting?  It hasn’t done this before (I haven’t used the car over winter for the last 2-3 years so it’s not new for it not to be used for a few months......but this is first time the idle has ‘changed itself!!’

probably nothing but interested in any advice/ideas

Check for a sticking Throttle and choke cable and make sure all the linkages can move freely would be my first check

Sounds like a sticky carb Bush, or a linkage/cable sticking slightly. Idle at 1000 rpm isn't too serious (I actually set the idle to this when off Choke, especially in winter. It's personal preference really.

To diagnose I go from full Choke to none then check that it is releasing fully at the carb end. Do the same with the throttle (an assistant is handy here, of any age, teach them young 😀).

Haynes quotes idle as 850 +- 50 rpm. As an aside, some camshafts can't idle under 1500 rpm but generally full race motors.

Hope this helps
