Fixed it by lengthening the stabiliser bar

I'm guessing this must be quite a common issue. My van has a 1275 Metro engine with HIF44 carb.As you can see from the picture the carb is touching the bulkhead, which has already been relieved and with the k+n filter on, the Speedo cable is trapped also.
What's the common fix ? A big hammer on the bulkhead ? :)

a longer/adjustable engine steady bar can be used to tilt the motor forward to give clearance

..out of curiosity; what inlet manifold are you using ?

An adjustable top steady which you can unwind to canter the engine forward will solve the problem.

Later 1275 minis had the lower engine mounts moved forward in the subframe so this wasnt an issue but older subframes can make do with the above.

If you don't already have it a longer upper steady and a thinner carb spacer if you have the 1/2 thick type.

If you have clearance on the carb cable quadrant you can gain 1/8"-1/4" by thinning the spacer, I took .150"/4mm off. You can also shorten the studs so it's easier to remove the carb.

This is the clearance on the quadrant I have, I plan to take more off the spacer to make removing the filter easier.

As mentioned earlier I used an adjustable top steady to lean my engine slightly forward, it's relatively easy to do
