Hi guys, thought I'd throw this thread together, this is Popeye my JDM import cooper 35, I've had him for just over 4 years now. I've done a fair amount of work since owning him, nothing too much just doing more of a refresh of most parts.

First couple of photos are the very first day he was delivered, sitting on some pepper pot wheels and then how he is now, all the chrome replaced with stainless steel, jbw wheels that a modern take of the original wheels on the UK 35s. Plenty of other work done but keeping it looking all original.

I've also started a YouTube channel for the car, he's been sat for 18 months whilst we had work done at the house so figured I'd record the work putting him back on the road and then just all the jobs I will do over time. The idea of the work I'll be doing is to do a restoration but bit by bit over several winters so when the summer rolls round I can still go out for a drive and enjoy it.

Here's the link to my channel I hope some of you subscribe and watch the videos.

I'll update this thread as I get things done and also when a new video is up on YouTube, any questions too please feel free to shout up

Honestly mate you can't go wrong with 1, I mean yeah some of the parts are hard to find/impossible or mad expensive but the quality of the car overall for what you pay is incredible and if it's anything like mine, it'll have been well looked after over in Japan

Don't listen to all the people who say they aren't as valuable as a UK mini, they were still built here and a fresh import is much better condition that the equivalent priced UK mini IMO

Thanks for the sub too on YouTube, I've been working on the mini over the weekend, got to finish it up this weekend and hopefully get another video by Sunday evening

The JDM Minis, well any injection Minis in-fact, definitely look more challenging to work on than the old carb’d cars!

Definatly Ben, there's alot more head scratching, swearing and struggling buttttt you get there eventually and I think they're worth the extra hassle to be honest, I don't think some people fully understand how much room the Aircon system takes up in the engine bay because it's everywhere
