Hi all,

Does anyone know how deliveries are going from minispares to the EU ?

Is it all up and running smoothly with no ridiculous delays ? (I've asked on their website but no answer yet)

I need a boot lid and it's a lot cheaper from the UK than the parts suppliers here in France.

I ordered some maintenance free balljoints from guessworks beginning of february and UPS returned the parcel to John saying paperwork was missing, but it wasn't, it was on the parcel. I'm still waiting for them !!!!

Pete.

Be a little bit careful, while the price for the parts will be cheap ( you now do not pay UK V.A.T 20%) there is a very good chance your government will charge you import duty and local V.A.T on both the purchase price and the carriage charges as per WTO regs.

While not in the EU (Norway), my delivery from MiniSpares came quite promptly a few weeks ago. As Shooter says they added 25% VAT (on both the goods and shipping) plus a hefty £20 handling charge at this end.

Pete.

The delay situation has passed, and we aren't seeing any returned parcels due to customs issues. Can you drop me a PM, we are running other shipping experiments

Thanks

Simon

Parts UK or EU made aren't subject to duty, so a boot lid would be fine.

Hi Simon,

just bought a part for 110GBP and was charged nearly 55GBP import taxes into sweden, what are MS plans for the EU customers to avoid this, i feel you will lose alot of customers?

I know the VAT has gone, but its a massive cost to bare, will you set up an EU warehouse?

cheers

David

What was the breakdown of the 55? 25% moms x% import duty and a fixed handling charge by the delivery company? The breakdown needs to be considered rather than the total.

I started this thread and ended buying from a french seller, it worked out a lot cheaper than buying from the UK.

I did buy from rimmers 2 weeks ago, got charged 32 euros for import charges. For an £85 order !!!

I also bought from GUESSWORKS and didn't get charged VAT and no import duties either !!!! £100 order.

I don't understand it.

A lot depends on where the parts were made.

We are just experimenting with a new carrier at the moment. The handling fee from them is around 6 Euros, you will still need to pay any Duty or VAT though. Do you have the breakdown of what DHL charged you?

Yes, Simon is right, but:

- DHL handling fee is €6,- independant of the value of the goods

- VAT (here in Germany it is 19% for goods incl. shipping)

- if parts are not made in Europe additional 3.5...4.5% (I had to pay this on the whole parcel because nobody could see what of the parts were non-Europe)

Regards,

Helmut

I make roof racks here in the UK and the last two I sent to France and Belgium had 100 Euro duty slapped on them

I've had exactly the same in The Netherlands, even had goods that were shipped prior to Brexit but stuck due to covid receive a double tax charge... 4 months of processing time for my appeal!
