Just received a parts order (not from Mini Spares) to Norway. In addition to the 25% VAT on the goods and postage which we can't do anything about, TNT have added over £30 administration charges!

This is a big part of the problem.
Couriers have been and will always be a necessary evil.
We can't buy without them, and they know it, and they can charge what they like, and make it up as they go along.
And in many cases you don't even know the full bill until after your goods arrive or they threaten not to deliver them until you pay up.
And they are currently taking advantage of the situation more than they normally do.

My first MiniSpares Brexit order just arrived last monday.
Besides the VAT that is now paid here in the NL (and not in the UK anymore) there are some additional cost, like customs fees (17.50 euro ) and processing costs. ( 10 euro)
Not bad I think, if you order enough, it is still good value for parts.
Funny thing is that the UK does not receive the VAT anymore, not sure if the Brexit guys like that idea?

Not correct. As they never did. They had to account it as a vat amount to an EU country. They were also having to charge the correct VAT rate for each different country. But now they have to consider different rates for parts not made in the UK. And that is where the fun can start with mixed orders.

Are you sure? I always paid the 20% VAT in the UK for all the stuff i have order in the last decade.

I second goudoogje. Pre-Brexit always paid 20% UK-VAT instead of 19% over here. There never was/is a VAT-accounting between EU-member states. You did/do not have to if you had/have a EU-VAT-Id. In this case you were/are obliged to add the local VAT on selling to the final customer.

Pre Brexit we were VAT registered in 14 EU countries, and charged the end user their local VAT rate. The UK VAT office weren't seeing this money anyway from MS

That explains a lot, thanks for this clarification!

Hi,
I've started using "the little car shop" a lot more now, they know their stuff and have a lot of stock which can be seen on their internet site.
I thought abour datch, but I hate their internet site.
