I would be grateful for a bit of advice please.

I have a 1995 Rover Mini Cooper with the 24 slot fuse holder that is not starting.

The battery is fine, around 13V and I have cleaned the earth connection to the body in the boot.

When I turn the key to the first position I can hear the fuel pump prime but when I turn to the next position there is nothing.

I have taken out and cleaned all the fuses in the fuse holder and the other one I found under the bonnet alongside the relays on the left hand side (as you stand looking at the engine).

I replaced the earth strap on the right hand side as the old one was a bit manky.

The headlights, fan, clock all have power but the indicators & horn do not work. The immobiliser LED is not lit up.

I have put a new battery into the key fob but I still don't get any indication that the immobiliser is on/off from the LED. It remains off.

I am taking the key fob to a local auto locksmith on Monday to see if it is sending out a signal but is there anything else that a novice like myself should be checking ? Are there any fuses I have missed ? Is there another earth connection that could need cleaning ?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The LED for the immobiliser can be unpredictable, at least on my car. It does sound immobiliser related. https://remotekey.co.uk/ can help if you are struggling with bottoming out the problem, or need a replacement fob.

Thank you for the reply...the local place I mentioned in my original post also do new fobs. It was just the fact that the horn, hazard/indicators etc also weren't working which made me think there may be a common factor I was missing.

Have you checked the wiring at the starter motor? If you have broken/ dirty or corroded wiring here not much will work.

I replaced the starter motor a couple of months ago & everything has been working OK up to a couple of weeks ago but I will check again...thanks. Wouldn't this impact everything though rather than about half of the electrics ?

Have you checked the fusible links by the starter solenoid? One of mine had been soldered together and broke down. Before:

Sorry to bring up an old post but I have to replace the fusable links on my SPI. What size/rating did you use.

Thanks Pete

Check the ignigtion relay in the upper left bulkhead nearer the earth point or brake servo.
Check and consider a swap out

I would check the fuse box itself - unscrew it from the bulkhead and check it carefully visually and with a test meter.

The loss of indicators and horn are not co- incidental. Start with the basics and figure out where the power has a broken circuit rather than random ideas.
