I would suggest to stop it from freezing, larger capacity and easier to fill up.

its for weight distribution, and also, less stuff in the way when your taking the engine out etc.

And if on a long stage you can see how much water you have left, so you dont over use it before the end of the stage, and of course less chance of it being hit by a stone and ruptured inside the car..

Saves you having to stop for the loo on long stages
Used to be common in military & commercial wagons too.
Helps prevent freezing, allows for a bigger tank and means you can keep an eye on the level & top up easily.

Mine is mounted by the navigator's feet on the wheel arch and at floor level. The twin electric washer pumps are mounted right above the reservoir with an additional switch on the navigator's panel. Fuses for the pumps are also on the navigator's side and each pump has its own fuse.
Thus it is convenient and reliable and one less system in the already crowded engine bay.

The existing bracket works well enough. You might want to add something to reduce the chances of it lifting out. But nothing was needed in the original position.

You could use a bog standard 5L plastic container drill a hole in the cap for the feed hose, stick a non return valve on the end & mount the pump(s) to the body. It'd then be easy to take it out to refill, give you an emergency water supply for the radiator....

I had the standard plastic bottle moved to co-drivers footwell many years ago for all the above mentioned reasons and it worked well .
When the under-wing washer bottle got ripped out of my Peugeot 106 Rally car on a rough stage we replaced it with a bag type from Car builder solutions and we found that to be very good as light and the pump was at the bottom of the bag. This meant the pump did not have to work too hard sucking the water out of a bottle.
What I have discovered of late is that the mini washer pumps that you buy these days seem very poor quality and we are forever having problems with them on our road mini come mot time!
It is therefore our intention to fit the bag type when we get to that point in our mini rally car build
